Le Picnic d'Aurélie Guillaume

Le Picnic

The Poetic World of Aurélie Guillaume in Enamel Objects

Opening reception on June 7 from 1 to 5 pm.

From June 7 to July 12, 2025, Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h is pleased to present Le Picnic, a solo exhibition featuring the latest enameled works by Montreal-based artist Aurélie Guillaume. This new body of work offers a sensory and poetic journey, blending time-honored craftsmanship with a bold contemporary spirit.

With Le Picnic, Aurélie Guillaume celebrates the poetry of simple moments, capturing everyday snapshots filled with lightness and innocence. In a world where everything is accelerating and becoming heavier, she invites us to pause – a tender, counter-current gesture. Her enamel objects, including central pieces and tableware sets, speak of shared meals, fleeting memories, and imagined stories. These works, whether recalling the past or anticipating future gatherings, are fragments of life where tenderness and kindness still find a place. With vibrant color, soft light, and whimsical forms, she constructs a refuge—an intimate world rooted in the poetry of the ordinary.

The enameling process, slow and precise, becomes an act of care in Guillaume’s hands. Her work balances intricate patterns and carefully curated color palettes, demonstrating both artistic sensitivity and technical mastery. Drawing inspiration from vintage enameled metalware—such as coffee pots and pitchers popular in the 1930s—she reinterprets tradition through a personal, contemporary lens.

Plates Aurelie

A graduate of the École de joaillerie de Montréal, Guillaume received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University in 2015. Her distinctive approach, influenced by street art, comics, and pop culture, quickly garnered attention. In 2018, she was awarded the prestigious François-Houdé Prize, recognizing excellence in craftsmanship and innovation and given jointly by the Montreal Arts Council and the Quebec Council of Arts and Crafts.

Aurélie has exhibited extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia and her work is included in 14 major international museum collections, including the Museum of Arts and Design (New York), Die Neue Sammlung – Pinakothek der Moderne (Munich), the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

Represented by Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h since 2015, Aurélie Guillaume will present her second solo exhibition Le Picnic at the gallery from June 7 to July 1, 2025. Through her exceptional skill and imagination, she renews our appreciation for the expressive potential of an ancient technique—enamel as you’ve never seen it before.
