PARCOURS BIJOUX 2026 – October 2 – 10, 2026
Contemporary jewelry arises from the meeting of thought and material, of gesture and tool. It inherently embodies meaning, history, and identity. Thus, whether worn or not, it conveys a message, an intention, and a line of inquiry. The PARCOURS BIJOUX—a triennial event in Paris—was launched in 2011 by a group of creators who, noting the lack of dedicated infrastructure in France, sought to influence the emergence of contemporary jewelry and revitalize its economy. Over the course of a month, numerous exhibitions and lectures are presented following a selection process by a three-person jury—comprising artists, art historians, or industry professionals—invited by the association *D’un bijou à l’autre*, the event’s organizer. Museums and art galleries host or organize exhibitions, while unexpected venues serve as showcases for the duration of the month.
This year, the gallery submitted a new project for the 2026 edition, which was enthusiastically accepted. Titled *Couleur Matières* (Color & Material), this exhibition brings together eight Canadian artists to explore the use of enamel in contemporary jewelry. The art of enameling is experiencing a resurgence of interest among many Canadian creators. An ancient, demanding, and sometimes unpredictable technique, it requires patience, attention to detail, and meticulous craftsmanship. Applying glass powder to metal and then fusing the material in a high-temperature kiln is a process that blends science with poetry. Each enameled piece is the result of a delicate balance between control and chance, between the artist’s touch and the fire. In a modern world dominated by speed, mass production, and instant gratification, enameling stands as an act of resistance—a celebration of slowness and precision. This project pays tribute to this fascinating practice and to the artists who are breathing new life into it today.
By honoring enamel, we also honor time, material, and the human element behind the object. It is an invitation to slow down, observe, and feel—to restore value to the act of making. In France, enameling is a recognized ancestral craft—centered primarily in Limoges, where it upholds specific aesthetic and technical traditions, as we discovered during a visit to an event there in 2022. This project, *Couleur Matière — Enamel in Canada*, will showcase our talent and the originality of the works created for the event, while fostering potential exchanges on many levels. For this new edition of *Parcours Bijoux*, the organizers have selected 36 national and international exhibitions. Several lectures are scheduled—including one by Noel Guyomarc’h at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris on October 1st—along with various gatherings designed to facilitate discussion on themes related to contemporary jewelry. Over the years, the event has grown in scope, attracting a passionate and curious audience, as well as collectors and international curators.
