.Hibernate – Simultaneousness

Helena Lehtinen, Eija Mustonen, Tarja Tuupanen, Jenni Sokura

From April 29th to May 29th, the Finnish collective Hibernate, formed by artists Helena Lehtinen, Eija Mustonen, Tarja Tuupanen and Jenni Sokura, has presented their most recent work in the exhibition, entitled Simultaneousness, at Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h. The title echoes the collective’s working method: after an initial sharing of sketches and ideas, each artist carries out their work individually. Thus, the effect of simultaneity comes not only from a common incentive to create, but also from a history shared by each member of the group. Although the exhibition presents certain recurring themes, these new bodies of work remain independent from one another and form a whole through the balance that unites them. Simultaneousness is about each artist’s parallel trajectory, up to the point of encounter embodied by the exhibition itself.
