Through contemporary jewelry and her practice in visual art, Mélanie Denis delves the complexity of the human soul, a fascinating subject. Using a variety of chosen materials to compose her work, she translates her impressions, such as the connection between humans and nature, memory and identity. Our past experiences enrich our perception of the present and our vision of the future.
Her process is deeply intuitive and emotional. After quick sketches to capture her initial ideas, she assemble elements, juxtaposing created or found objects, colors and textures to give depth and dimension to her work.
In this current body of work, silver serves as the structure. Graphic effects are created by using transparent plexiglass, revealing images printed on acetate while incorporating textured elements and color such as earthenware and grosgrain ribbon to offer multiple interpretations to the viewer.
Mélanie Denis is a multidisciplinary artist working in contemporary jewelry, current ready-to-wear jewelry and pictorial works.
