Jamie-BennettJamie Bennett: Drawing and Making

9:30 – 10:30 am Room A

Drawing, thinking and making are closely linked in the work of artist Jamie Bennett. Rather than serving as renderings of his jewelry, Bennett’s drawings represent fragments of ideas and images that instigate new pieces. The relationship of these separate creative endeavors will be explored in this lecture.

Jamie Bennett: Evolution of an Idea

12:30 – 1 pm Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h, booth 1202

Jewelry artist Jamie Bennett will discuss his process, tracing the seed of an idea through research, drawing, and its final iteration as finished work.

Borders Be Damned: We Are All Citizens of Craft

12:15 – 1:15 pm Room B

A group of wily Canadians will discuss their perspectives on the value of craft, based on the manifesto statements of the Canadian-made, universally appealing “Citizens of Craft” movement. Presentations from glass artist Susan Rankin, jewelry artist Pamela Ritchie, and curator Janna Hiemstra will provide Canadian context, leading into a discussion of the border-crossing, boundary-breaking, meaningful movement of craft, relevant no matter where you live in the world.

Artists represented in order of listing: Option Art, Montreal; Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h, Montreal
