Bright Wings, Silent Waves – Märta Mattsson & Carina Shoshtary
The exhibition Bright Wings, Silent Waves, on view at the gallery from September 13 to October 31, 2026, brings together works by jewelry artists Märta Mattsson and Carina Shoshtary. Through work inspired by nature, both artists metaphorically address contemporary societal issues: self-assertion expressed through brilliantly colored jewelry in Märta’s work, and the concept of protection—at once moving and striking—in Carina’s.

In Märta Mattsson’s work, the pieces celebrate the strength of asserting oneself openly. Unlike camouflage, a form of protection through invisibility, self-assertion carries risks. Insects become metaphors for individuals and communities who refuse silence, despite repression, discrimination, and violence. Created in an era marked by war, persecution, and the erosion of human rights, these works interrogate the very act of remaining visible and speaking out. Each piece of jewelry becomes both an ornament and a statement. Brought together under the Glow against the Dark collection, these exquisite pieces of jewelry— created from beetles and cicada wings—make a bold statement and stand out through their flamboyance.

Carina Shoshtary’s works take natural materials as their starting point: stones shaped by water, empty snail shells, seashells, wood, and paper. Each already has its own history and accompanies the artist throughout her creative process. Forms of protection emerge over the course of the work. Structures — whether defenses or vessels — nonetheless hold a palpable vulnerability. As in nature, strength does not lie in rigidity or self-enclosure; it adapts and transforms. Through an innovative use of the 3D pen, Carina delights our senses and stimulates the imagination.
